A
33-year-old woman, Zainab Salisu, an internally displaced person in Maradun
camp, Zamfara, delivered a set of quadruplets, two boys and two girls
yesterday, Sunday August 19th.
The
excited father of the quadruplets, Salisu Muhammad, said they were
suprised that this particular pregnancy was very big when compared to the seven
other pregnancies Zainab has had previously in which she welcomed a set of
twins. Salisu said his wife went into a brief labour in the early hours
of Sunday and she was assisted by traditional birth attendants at the IDP.
When
she gave birth, the IDP officials moved the mother and her quadruplet to
Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the state capital.
Zaynab
and her husband were among more than 12,000 people displaced from nearly 20
communities in five local government areas of Maru, Maradun, Zurmi, Shinkafi
and Anka following several attacks by armed bandits.
