The Nasarawa State Police Command on Sunday said it has deployed
3, 000 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP
Samaila Usman, made this known in a statement in Lafia on Sunday.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Yahaya Bello, deployed
plain cloth intelligence officers for surveillance and intelligence gathering
among the personnel.
Usman said that the command would ensure rigorous patrol along
the highways and some identified flash points to check crime during the festive
period.
“We have reinforced our patrol around axis identified as black
spots for armed robbery and other criminal activities by injecting more Mobile
policemen to stem the tide of criminality in the state,” Usman said.
He said police officers and men would also be deployed to
maintain law and order at the Eid praying grounds and recreational centres in
the state, while urging Muslims to be law abiding.
He urged the public to live in peace with one another
irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation and shun hate speeches.
The
PPRO assured the public of adequate security during and after the festive
period, urging them to report movement of suspicious characters in the
surroundings to the security agents nearest to them.
